BEECH ISLAND, S.C. (WJBF) There is a boil water notice now in effect for several customers in certain areas of Beech Island.

According to the Beech Island Water District, customers living on Cary Drive, Chandler Drive, Fowke Street, and the Beechdale Subdivision are now under a boil water advisory after a main break if experiencing low or no water pressure.

Authorities state that there has been no confirmed contamination of the system; however, because of loss of pressure, the potential for contamination exists.

The Beech Island Water District, as a precautionary measure, is advising customers in the listed affected areas to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute before drinking or cooking until notified otherwise, and if any ice made from the water has not been boiled, it should not be used.

If you have any questions concerning this notice, contact the Beech Island Water District during office hours (803) 827-1004.
