AUGUSTA, GA (WJBF) – Wren has played four years of soccer and flag football for the Knights, leading the soccer team in goals through the first three seasons and being named flag football Region Player of the Year in 2022. In the classroom she is in the top 20% of her class and has completed seven AP courses with exceptional grades. For her hard work both in the classroom and in her athletic endeavors, Wren has been named WJBF Scholar Athlete of the Week.

Wren says she is so grateful to her friends and family for helping her achieve her dreams. “It means everything to me. It wouldn’t be possible without all my family, my teachers, my coaches, my friends, and my teammates. They’re all a very supportive group, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without all of them.

Her parents are so proud of her saying she has grown into a leader during her time at Evans High. “It’s awesome. We’re just so proud of her with everything that she does on the field and in the classroom,” says mom Casey Chochol, “just from where she started you just see a different side of her, and how she motivates other players around her is awesome.” For Wren’s father, he says he’s most proud of her work ethic and her positive attitude. “It’s just super exciting to see her get recognized for this. The recognition shows what we’ve seen year after year, she is just such a hard worker, she gives 110% in everything she does. She’s got a huge heart and a ‘never quit’ attitude,” says Sharif Chochol.

Wren’s coach has also seen her hard work and says her leadership has inspired her teammates and peers. “Wren is just such a deserving student and athlete so seeing her receive this award, it makes all the coaches excited, it makes her family excited, and her peers also appreciate that she’s getting honored for all of her achievements,” explains Head Coach Eric Leiden, “even going back to her freshman year, people always admired her attributes, and she was always special. You always knew she was going to develop into a phenomenal young lady, athlete, and scholar.”

Wren hasn’t decided on a college yet, but she plans to study nursing and says she loves helping people. A huge congrats to Wren Chochol and her family!
