    2 reported dead after possible tornado in central Georgia

    SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Two people are dead after a suspected tornado touched down in central Georgia Thursday night, according to Macon media outlets.

    Officials in Wheeler County say the pair’s mobile home overturned.

    Wheeler County is about 120 miles southwest of Augusta.

    Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, shared his thoughts on Twitter, “Marty, the girls, and I are saddened to learn of the loss of two lives in Wheeler County this evening. As we join their families in mourning their deaths, we urge all Georgians to brace for further impact from Helene, remain vigilant, and pray for all those affected.”
