BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – In Burke County, the sheriff’s office is asking you to bring food to the sheriff’s office and they’ll cook it for you to take home, or you can eat food they’re grilling Monday.

Like so many deputies, the ones there are working hard to keep the community up and running- but also safe.

They’re working hard to serve while also dealing with their own tragedies.

“We have another employee who lost…his fiancé lost her mom. The traffic lights were not operational and there was an accident at an intersection where he lost his future mother-in-law, that’s tough. But they are showing up to help,” said Sheriff Alfonzo Williams.

15 officers form the Forsythe County Sheriff’s Office are on their way to help Burke County with clean up efforts.
