    Gas leak contained on North Belair Road in Evans

    UPDATE | The gas leak has been contained. The area is now clear for families to return to their homes.

    EVANS, Ga. (WJBF) – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is on the scene of a large gas leak on North Belair Road.

    It’s located between Pineland Drive and Hickory Drive in Evans. The intersection at Columbia Road and Belair Road is blocked.

    Traffic is being detoured.

    No word on the source or cause of the leak.

    They are NOT requiring evacuation, BUT if you leave you are asked to NOT use a car, and to leave on foot.
