SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has announced a temporary suspension of the motor fuel tax in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

In an X Post on Tuesday , Kemp stated that the suspension would last until the end of the State of Emergency Order on October 9. He stresses that this would provide “relief to communities who continue to rely on fuel to power their homes and necessary equipment.”

The current Gasoline State Excise tax rate amounts to $0.323 per gallon.

It would be great if the counties would do the same thing, but that would probably lead to property tax increases…
