AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Augusta Greek Festival has been postponed until the weekend of Oct. 17-20.

Organizers set up a soup kitchen which began Wednesday at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church located in Downtown Augusta. They plan to provide food to the community at 11 a.m. through the rest of the week until supplies run out.

Fr. Vasile Bitere of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church said this is a way they plan to help the community.

“So instead of leaving the festival, we turn around with reschedule the festival and the tentative dates in the weekend of 17 to 20,” he said. “And now we are just cooking every day, including 250 to 300 people every day for this week.”

Food distribution will be on the Greene Street Parking Lot access near the corner of 10th Street and Telfair.
