Master’s Table Soup Kitchen reopens

AUGUSTA (WJBF) – The Master’s Table soup kitchen is back open.

For years it’s never had to close its doors, but when Helene hit, it closed for 6 days.

Thursday morning, Edward Mendoza the owner of Cucina 503, brought his staff and food to help make sure the soup kitchen reopened today.

Instead of opening his restaurant, he chose to put his resources towards helping those in need.

“I’m a chef and chef give back to the community. And if the chef wants the community to support him in the rest of the year, when we have trouble and we have crisis, we better get out and support the community. We’re going to run the soup kitchen through Tuesday here and get it back on its feet and get it up and going. And then we will open Cucina on Wednesday,” Edward said.

The soup kitchen is open daily for a free hot meal from 11am until 12pm. It’s located at 702 Fenwick St in downtown August.a
