    Gov. Kemp extends State of Emergency following Helene

    SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – As counties continue to recover from Hurricane Helene, Governor Brian Kemp announced he has extended the State of Emergency for affected counties for as long as needed on Tuesday.

    Governor Kemp also plans to continue to work with those on the local level to ensure resources are available for those who need them following Helene.

    The State of Emergency order is currently being extended until Wednesday, Oct. 16 for multiple counties, including:

    • Burke
    • Columbia
    • Emanuel
    • Glascock
    • Jefferson County
    • Jenkins
    • Johnson
    • McDuffie
    • Richmond
    • Screven
    • Wilkes
