HARLEM, Ga. (WJBF) – Football Friday Night is back after a two-week layoff.  And fans are happy to get a sense of normalcy back to their Friday nights.

It’s a big night in Harlem.  The area was hit hard by Helene.  Friday night, the Bulldogs took the field against Aquinas.  And fans are happy to be back in the stands.

“It’s a good break to get away from everything cause the stress level everybody has from just their own problems. I just nice to get away,” said Rick Lane, Harlem High School Alumni.

Students Tell me they missed going to the games and they were ready to see their friends and cheer on the Bulldogs.

“Kinda miss school a little bit. Miss my friends, so yeah, I’m excited,” said Romeo Pulley, a fan.

“I’m excited to see some friends that don’t go to my school and just cheer on Harlem. Yeah, it was boring sitting at home without power,” said Keeler Smith, a fan.

Fans say getting back to a little bit of ordinary with high school football gave them a chance to get away and have a little fun.

“Before the hurricane, everybody was enjoying Friday nights out here. Just glad to see everybody back out here enjoying it,” said Daniel Long, a fan.

A player’s mom was happy to get the team back onto the field so soon.

“I thought that it would be at least another month before we would be able to get back out here and get them playing,” said Katie Coleman, parent of a player. “I hate that their season got interrupted by the hurricane, but I am happy that they may have some time to rejuvenate and hopefully get their gears running so they’re able to win out the rest of the season.”

Fans are excited to continue this season and push forward after the storm.
