ATHENS, GA (WJBF)- The fifth ranked Georgia Bulldogs are gearing up for a road matchup against the Texas Longhorns this Saturday.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 41-31 win against Mississippi State. Quarterback Carson Beck threw a career high 459 yards and three touchdowns.

Now, the attention turns towards the number one ranked Longhorns. It’ll be the first time since 1958 that Georgia will face Texas in Austin.

The last time these two teams met was in 2019, where the Longhorns edged out the Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl.

It’ll be another top five road challenge for the Dawgs, as College Gameday will make another appearance.

Coach Smart will prepare for both quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning, and the challenges they present on offense.

“Texas presents something completely different because they’ll have you sitting in the line of scrimmage because you think it’s a run, and they run right by you,” said head coach Kirby Smart.

“They’ll have you looking at a motion, and you don’t see the guy running down the field passing. They’ve got great speed on the perimeter and great size. They present maybe a different challenge than Mississippi State, but a challenge.”

It’ll be the first time coach Smart, and his players visit Texas Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on NewsChannel 6.
