AUGUSTA, GA (WJBF)- The Augusta Volleyball team picked up right where they left off, sweeping Georgia college and Shaw over the weekend.

With the postponing of games, the Jaguars look at this as fresh start to the second half of the season.

Hurricane Helene forced the Augusta university volleyball team to postpone five matches, putting a pause on their historic season.

“We have hiccups along the way, and this was a massive hiccup, that’s no small hiccup. you’re just resilient, and then keep your eye on the prize,” said volleyball head coach Sharon Quarles.

Even during the hiatus, the team’s mindset was getting back into the gym and making a run towards the postseason.

“But we relied heavily on the five days when we came back this Monday, to get training and get going. fresh legs, new attitude, we came out strong and we looked really good Saturday,” Quarles said.

The team’s 11 wins so far is due to their depth and experience, something they’ll continue to lean on going into the home stretch of the regular season.

“For the seniors, this is it for them. they have an eight, nine-week window. Leave it all on the court, let’s have no regrets on what we need to do and where we need to go, and get after it.”

The Jaguars are back in action Wednesday night, as they travel to USC Aiken for a 6 p.m. matchup.
