    Traffic accident takes out power for 2000 in South Augusta

    AUGUSTA, GA (WJBF)- Repairs and clean up are underway on Peach Orchard Road after a traffic accident.

    It happened around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Peach Orchard Road and Tobacco Road. Authorities report the accident cause downed traffic lights, cables and shutting down power in the area.

    The Richmond County Sheriff’s office is urging people to avoid the area as they are working to clear the debris and wires in the road.

    There are currently nearly two thousand people without power in the nearby Pepperidge neighborhood. Those outages are related to this accident.
