JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – For the second straight time, East Tennessee State University has been named the Top Adventure College by Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine readers.

ETSU announced Monday it had secured the title again after voting pitted the university against others from around the country.

“ETSU Outdoor Adventure and Campus Recreation are extremely excited to receive Top Adventure College for the second year in a row,” Eric Payne, assistant director of Outdoor Adventure at ETSU, said in a news release. “Our students are the most important part of what we do, and we are thrilled to continue to provide diverse, growth-oriented and adventurous outdoor programming.”

According to the university, ETSU’s mountainous location and proximity to local, state and national parks and waterways factor into its outdoor success.

The university also said in the release that its on-campus offerings like disc golf, indoor rock-climbing wall and trail system make it a great place to connect to the outdoors while pursuing a degree.
