Kingsport Lions Club to host 78th Turtle Derby

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) – The 78th running of the Kingsport Lions Club Turtle Derby is happening on Saturday, June 1.

The derby is one of two fundraisers that benefit children and adults in the greater Kingsport area with all proceeds helping fund eye screenings, exams and glasses for local children and adults.

The turtle derby will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday and last through noon at J. Fred Johnson Stadium on the baseball diamond.

Vendors can sponsor a turtle for $50 to help raise funds. Admission is free, but donations are always welcome.

Bill Moore sat down with the Good Morning Tri-Cities team to talk more about the event.
