    NC police identify people killed in plane crash tied to Johnson Co.

    MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WJHL) — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCHP) has identified the three people killed after a plane that left from Johnson County, Tennessee on Sunday night crashed in North Carolina.

    According to the NCHP, the pilot was identified as Adam Plummer. The passengers were identified as Scott George and Charles Mather Jr.

    All three of the deceased are from South Carolina, the highway patrol reports.

    The manager of the Johnson County Airport confirmed to News Channel 11 that the single-engine Cessna 182 aircraft took off around 8:30 p.m. bound for Rutherfordton, N.C. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated in its preliminary report that the wreckage of the plane was found about 12 miles north of its destination.

    First responders in North Carolina were at the scene of the crash Monday near Brackett Town Road in Dysartsville.

    The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation into the crash.
