(WJHL) – It was a pair of tight, seven-inning games in local Appalachian League action on Sunday evening.

UT’s Moore selected No. 8 overall in 2024 MLB Draft

The Axmen and River Riders traded blows in Elizabethton, until a three-run fifth inning put the home team over the top, 8-5.

Jayden Lobliner led the way with four RBI for the River Riders in the win, while Cal Sefcik countered with three RBI for Kingsport in defeat.

In Johnson City, the Doughboys lost an early lead, rallied hard, but ultimately fell short to the Otterbots, 7-6.

Five different batters drove home a run for the home team, including Colby Backus (Tennessee) and Braden Spano (Milligan).

Danville took just enough of the opportunities presented to them on Sunday, as they walked 12 times in the victory.
