    City of Elizabethton seeking artists for downtown postcard-style mural

    ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) – The City of Elizabethton is looking for artists for its next mural.

    The city and Main Street Elizabethton call for one or more artists to create a postcard-style mural to welcome visitors to the downtown area. The mural will be displayed at 507 E. Elk Avenue.

    According to the city’s official website , “The goal of this project is to create a postcard-style mural welcoming locals and visitors to the downtown district. It will feature local cultural, physical, and symbolic references, paying homage to our hometown and setting the tone of inclusivity and welcomeness throughout the district.”

    Artists interested in applying for the project must request the qualifications here on or before Aug. 26 by 2 p.m.

    The mural is a partnership between the city and Main Street Elizabethton and is funded by the Tennessee Arts Commission’s Rural Arts Project and the City of Elizabethton.
