Aroma Coffee House brings Latin American roots to Bristol, Virginia

BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) —Aroma Coffee House, a new Latino-owned small business, recently opened in Bristol, Virginia. It offers an array of sweet treats and pick-me-ups .

Aroma Coffee House is located at 4863 Lee Highway and is owned by Rene Diaz, who has Honduran roots. He told News Channel 11 that he hopes people can come to have a quality coffee and connect with themselves in the space he’s created.

“This is by connecting with music, a vintage space that people can be more lonely and they can connect with themselves,” he said.

Diaz said he’s eager to learn about Appalachian culture and bring his Latin American heritage to the menus he serves.

“For me, I think the best way to connect with the people and to know that culture is to serve it a good coffee.”

Aroma Coffee House serves hand-scooped ice cream, coffee of all kinds, light lunch food, smoothies, smoothie bowls, boba tea and traditional Latin American dishes. Diaz said he takes pride in setting reasonable prices.

“I think that people are open to new business, new ideas, and that’s a great thing. I appreciate them in Bristol, [they] opened their hearts and their eyes for this space.”

Aroma Coffee House is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. A full menu with prices and more information can be found at Facebook.com/aromacoffeehousebristol.
