JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) – A Jonesborough man was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault on Thursday, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).

Jason Lee Powers, 49, was charged with aggravated domestic assault after pointing a gun at a victim and “bumping” into her vehicle, WCSO reported in a news release.

Deputies found Powers in the 800 block of Old State Route 34 behind the victim’s vehicle in a Jeep. The victim had reportedly left earlier after an argument with Powers and returned home to retrieve her second vehicle, believing Powers had already left.

When the victim arrived at the home to retrieve her vehicle and attempted to leave, Powers allegedly ran up to the car and pointed a pistol at her.

The WCSO reports the victim then tried to leave the home, and Powers followed her to a nearby convenience store and “bumped” into her vehicle with his Jeep.

The sheriff’s office also reported Powers did not have a registration plate.

Deputies secured the weapon and transported Powers to the Washington County Detention Center. He was being held on a $50,000 bond as of Thursday.
