SHHS and Boone win on the volleyball court, while Lady Toppers win on the pitch

Tri-Cities, TN — on the volleyball court tonight the Sullivan East Patriots coming to Science Hill to take on the Hilltoppers…

The Patriots are on the serve …. the ball is saved by Chloe Connor… which leads to a setup from Ella Neal with a strong finish by Chelsea Blaine as the Toppers take the early lead. Then later Laiklyn meade on the serve now for Sullivan East she clipped the net and it dropped out of reach of the toppers…she scored three in a row on her first serves of the night

In the end, too much Science Hill Blaine with the serve hits the net and drops it on the other side for the Hilltoppers who took an early lead and never looked back…

Another non-conference tilt in Gray as Volunteer visited Daniel Boone. Early in the 1st set … the Falcons attacked right down the middle … but Adah Snodgrass – fools the front row … and gets the point with a tip … Volunteer is in front

Moments later – Snodgrass a huge swing … but it’s dug out nicely by Katie Sparks … while Taylor Brinn… puts it away on the counterattack. Later – more good defense from the Lady Blazers… Ashlyn Seymore… with the big block … that’s another point for the home squad…

A competitive match … that goes the way of Boone 3-0

Now let’s see a different kind of football in preparation for Friday between the Lady Hilltoppers and the Lady Wolves.

Toppers get things into motion, Chloe Dishner passes to Brenna Overbay she will shoot for a goal nearly uncontested, and get the Toppers on the board 1-0 within the first 6 minutes of the game.

Still bringing on the pressure and only 11 minutes within the game, this pass to Dishner who banks it in Toppers is up 2 nothing.

Thirteen minutes when Addison Hight brings the ball into Wolves’ territory. As the Wolves catch up to her she passes to Overbay who gets the easy kick in. Toppers up by 3 and rolls 9-0

The Tennessee High volleyball team opened the season Tuesday with a pair of tough wins in best of 3 matches. The first match was an absolute barn burner as THS jumped on Greeneville in the first set 25-15 only to see the Greene Devils take the second 25-21. The third set saw the Lady Vikings jump out to a lead only for Greeneville to rally and take leads of 22-17 and 23-18 before THS responded with a rally of its own to knot the set at 24. From there it was back and forth with both teams spoiling match points before Ashton Blair’s 9 ^th kill of the match clinched a 31-29 win.

The second match was very similar as again the Lady Vikings got off to a good start 25-20 before Elizabethton pulled even 25-18. The third set was nip and tuck for a while before the Lady Vikes pulled away to win 25-16.

Ashton Blair led the THS offense on the night with 19 kills between the two matches. Erin Littleton added 14  and 4 blocks and Faith Hayes had 11 kills. Bree Adams handed out 33 assists and Emily Curtin 19. Addy Gentry picked up 19 digs. THS (2-0) will open Big East Conference play with a trip to Crockett on Thursday.

The Lady Patriot Soccer Club for earning a hard-fought District contest over the Lady Blue Devils 3-0 Tuesday night.

Val Velazquez scored two goals and Paisley Patrick scored one. Gracie Cox and Samantha Carr contributed assists and Cheyenne Peaks had two saves on goal.

The Patriots improve to 2-1 on the season and host West Ridge on Thursday night.
