    Police: Man injured after pulling into train’s path in Coeburn

    WISE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — A man was injured after police reported he pulled into the path of a train in Coeburn, Virginia, on Thursday.

    According to the Coeburn Police Department , officers were called to the crash on Front Street around 1:18 p.m. Deputies with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.

    The police department reports a vehicle had “pulled out of a driveway and into the path of the train that was passing through.”

    Coeburn police stated the driver, who was identified only as an “elderly male,” was the only person in the vehicle. He was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries.

    As of 2:47 p.m., the railroad and all roads in the area were open again.

    Police thanked the sheriff’s office, Lifecare Ambulance and maintenance workers in the Town of Coeburn for their response and assistance.
