SULLIVAN CO., Tenn. (WJHL)—Birthdays are meant to be a day for celebration. But for Hollynn Snapp’s family, the day brings up a feeling of heartache.

20-year-old Hollynn Snapp was reported missing in October of 2023. On Saturday, her family remembered her on a day when they should be celebrating.

“Today is Hollynn’s 20th birthday,” said Leslie Hunt, Hollynn’s former foster mother. “She’s been missing 324 days as of today.”

Although the family has hired a private investigator, Hunt said they are no closer to an answer.

“We really have no more knowledge of what has happened to her than we did two weeks into reporting her missing,” said Hunt.

As the one year mark inches closer, Hunt still questions how something like this could happen to someone she loves.

“It just blows my mind that somebody can just disappear off the face of the earth and no one knows,” said Hunt.

Hunt said the past year has been hard for her and Hollynn’s mother, Heather Snapp. She said the two women find ways to comfort each other.

“On days when it’s a little bit harder, usually I end up talking to Heather,” said Hunt. “We end up hanging out. We’re usually mad together.”

Despite the lack of answers, Hunt said they have no intentions of giving up. Hunt and Snapp hung up missing posters around the area prior to Hollynn’s birthday.

“I think it’s just important for those responsible for Hollynn not coming home to know that we’re not giving up no matter what,” said Hunt.

Hunt said that Snapp plans to order a cake today, as she would have if Hollynn was home to celebrate.

“[Hollynn] would call her mom and let her know, ‘Hey, I’m not a baby anymore,'” said Hunt. “‘I’m another year older.’ So today we know that you’re 20 and that you’re not a baby anymore. But you’ll always be our baby. And we still love you and miss you very much.”

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement to News Channel 11:

At this time, our investigation remains active and ongoing.  As we have said from the beginning, we urge anyone with information to please come forward.
