KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Church Hill man is facing several charges after police said he carjacked a woman in Kingsport last week before crashing another stolen car in Johnson City over the weekend following a pursuit.

According to the Kingsport Police Department, Dystin Johnson, 22, of Church Hill, is charged with carjacking, aggravated kidnapping, resisting arrest, evading arrest, burglary and motor vehicle theft.

The police department was informed of a carjacking around 12:25 a.m. on Aug. 19 in the area of East Sevier Street. The victim told police that a man entered her driver’s seat as she returned to her Honda Accord. The victim said the suspect showed a pistol that was in his waistband and ordered her into the car.

The suspect reportedly drove her to East Lawn Cemetery where he ordered her to get out of the car. The victim was not injured during the incident.

Kingsport investigators then identified Johnson as the suspect.

Officers recovered the stolen Honda Accord on Aug. 21.

Then on Sunday, Kingsport officers observed a white Kia Sedona in the area of Park Street that Johnson was known to drive and saw Johnson exit the car and enter 1833 Park Street.

“While officers were attempting to set up a perimeter around the residence, Johnson fled from the residence on foot to Johnny Brusco’s Pizza,” the police department said in a release. “Johnson entered Johnny Brusco’s and stole the keys to an employee’s 2016 Hyundai Sonata and took the car.”

The police department said officers pursued Johnson in the Hyundai before losing sight of him in the area of North Eastman Road. Area agencies were told to be on the lookout for the vehicle and Johnson.

Johnson was arrested Sunday in Johnson City after reportedly driving the wrong way and crashing the stolen Hyundai on Bristol Highway during a pursuit.

He is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on charges related to the Johnson City pursuit.

Good job by the police department but this article is the worst thing I've read today. So many misspelled words. They either need to start proofreading these articles or stop using a.i. one. This is a really poorly written article
