Barktoberfest to welcome participants for free this year

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) — The fourth annual Barktoberfest will be held at Covered Bridge Park from 2 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 12, and for the first time, participation in the spooky festival will be free.

Barktoberfest will feature a beer garden, dog contest and pet vendors. Live music will entertain the crowd, and food trucks will be available to feed guests.

An itinerary for the event is below, provided by a social media post by Downtown Elizabethton:

Contests:

• 3:00 p.m. – Puppy Costume
• 4:00 p.m. – Strut Your Mutt
• 5:00 p.m. – Best Trick
• 5:45 p.m. – Doggy and Me Costume

There will also be a “Pup Cake Walk” at 2:30, 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.
