JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) – A new diner will open in the Town of Jonesborough on Saturday.

The 11E Diner will host a grand opening Saturday at 6 a.m. The diner is located at 1406 W. Jackson Boulevard.

Restaurant manager Gene Wishon said the diner’s menu will include southern staples.

“It’s going to feature good country cooking,” Wishon said. “Pinto beans and cornbread, steak and gravy, blue plate specials. We’re going to have a Wagon Wheel Hamburger that’s about three different sizes. We are going to feature a one-pound hamburger.”

Wishon told News Channel 11 he believes it will be good to have another family-owned restaurant in Jonesborough.

“Jonesborough really doesn’t have too many diners outside of corporate restaurants,” Wishon said. “So when this property became available, I got with my family, and we just thought it was a good idea to get started. I’ve been in the restaurant business for 30-plus years, and I think it’s just time to start owning one.”

The 11E Diner will get its produce from local providers, according to Wishon.

The diner is still hiring for some positions. Once open, the diner will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The diner will be open on Sunday, Sept. 8 but will typically be closed on Sundays.
