Donations can be dropped off in the parking lot of the detention center (114 W Jackson Blvd, Jonesborough) from 9 a.m. – noon on Sept. 24 and 2 – 5 p.m. on Sept. 26.

“Inmates leave in the clothes they were arrested in,” Sheriff Keith Sexton said in a news release. “So, if you were booked into our facility in July and then released in January, those flip-flops and shorts aren’t going to keep you warm.”

    • Long sleeve t-shirts, thermal shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters
    • Jeans, sweatpants, leggings or athletic wear for women
    • Coats, jackets
    • Outwear, gloves, toboggans
    • Socks
    • New underwear

The sheriff’s office asks only winter clothing with no business logos be donated.
