JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A new mountain bike trail was unveiled Thursday at Tannery Knobs in Johnson City.

The new quarter-mile trail, named Vol Holler, is for more intermediate riders and features hand-cut and machine-cut sections. According to the city, the hand-cut sections “preserve the natural root systems and rock features, creating a narrower, more immersive experience for users.”

It is the only trail on Tannery Knobs with a hand-cut feature. Volunteers dedicated around 500 hours to constructing it.

A new bicycle playground is also in the works that will be geared toward beginner riders. It is expected to open next summer.
