WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A woman was charged with aggravated arson and assault after allegedly setting a bed on fire and choking a victim at a Washington County, Tennessee residence Saturday.

The Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) reports deputies responded to a fire investigation in the 100 block of Cedar Ridge Road.

Upon arrival, a victim told police they heard a loud pop and a woman, identified as Miranda Lasha Hammett, 26, said she set a bed on fire in the basement of the home.

The victim attempted to call 911 but Hammett allegedly choked them, took their cell phone and fled the scene, the WCSO reported. The victim was then able to call 911 from a neighbor’s house.

Hammett was later located at a home in the 700 block of Conklin Road. She reportedly admitted to using a torch to set the bed on fire and had the torch in her possession, according to the WCSO.

Hammett was arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center where she’s being held on a $100,000 bond.

She is set to appear in court on Monday.
