BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — The Bristol Casino had its second-best revenue month ever in August and set a new record for income from slot machines.

According to the Virginia Lottery’s August casino activity report, the Bristol Casino netted $15,940,186.74 in adjusted gross revenue (AGR).

The casino has only posted one month with a higher AGR since its opening; that occurred in March 2024 when the AGR was roughly $16.3 million.

August set a new record for revenues generated at slot machines in the casino. Slots (as is typically the case in Bristol) made up the lion’s share of the AGR by generating $13,286,447. August’s slot total beat the record previously held in March 2024, which was a little more than $13 million.

Table games contributed $2,653,740 to August’s AGR.

The lucrative month translates to nearly $1 million being added to the casino’s Regional Improvement Commission (RIC). A $956,411 payout to the RIC was the result of August’s casino activity. The RIC evenly disperses funds to the 12 counties and two independent cities of Southwest Virginia, who must use the money generated to improve transportation, education and safety in the area.

Over the 26 months the casino’s been open, funds generated for the RIC total more than $21.1 million.

So here's my sessions broke down. I took $1500 over 5 sessions. $300 a trip. Best win: $156. I was betting around $1.00 on all my sessions. Longest session: 45 minutes. Shortest session: 20 minutes. I assume that there are payout people working there. Five times going yet to see a hand pay. I never in my adult life thought I'd say this but this casino broke me from gambling.
