JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — The oldest town in Tennessee is hosting its 3rd annual Pumpkin Fest on Saturday, which includes something for every kid, adult or furry friend in the family. Organizers said they’re also searching for volunteers to spend some time at the festival.

The annual event is organized by the Jonesborough Area Merchants & Service Association (JAMSA) and takes place downtown on Sept. 21 from 1-5 p.m. Attendees can explore several food and drink tasting stops while enjoying a variety of activities in-between.

New this year is a 12′ x 6′ life-sized “pumpkin hut” that allows families to surround themselves in wall-to-wall pumpkins – a perfect family photo opportunity.

According to a release from JAMSA, tickets are $10 and provide each attendee with a 10-hole punch card. Each food or drink stop costs two punches and each “activity experience” or ride costs one punch.

Treat stops will feature pumpkin-themed food and drink items that are both sweet and savory. Experience stops range from pie eating contests, hayrides, face painting, family fun games in the park, a pet costume contest and several fall-inspired photo opportunities.

Along with tastings and activities, a mini craft village will be set up along Main Street that features local vendors and craftsmen selling their goods. Before the festival, a free fall Lego building and crafts session is taking place at the Jonesborough Public Library starting at 12:30 p.m.

This year, a fundraiser hayride operation will raise money for Paws in Blue, which supports the Jonesborough Police Department’s K-9 officers. Wristbands will cost $3 and grant visitors unlimited hayrides. Guests can still use their punch cards to ride once per punch, as well. The release said all wristband sales for hayrides will be donated to Paws in Blue.
