GATE CITY, Va. (WJHL) – On Friday, Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin made an appearance at Gate City High School, alongside a very special guest – the Blue Devils’ own Mac McClung.

The two-time NBA Slam Dunk champion could be headed back to Florida soon enough, however. He and the Orlando Magic have reportedly agreed to a partially-guaranteed contract ahead of the 2024-25 preseason.

Bucs’ belief as strong as ever headed into Elon matchup

If he does earn an invite to training camp in Orlando, he’ll have a chance to earn a roster spot and another NBA contract.

Nothing is set in stone, but McClung remains confident in the improvements he’s made in the offseason to reach his goal.

“It feels good – It’s just kind of the journey is still the journey,” he explained. “Each day trying to get better and kind of make a name for myself in the league.”

“I mean, each year I work on a bunch of things to get better,” he continued. “Earn a spot in the NBA – you know, I think, I know who I am as a player. My value doesn’t come from the NBA, but that’s where I want to be at. So, I’m going to keep going and let it all work out.”

The Orlando Magic open training camp at their facility on Tuesday, October 1.
