“BANJO, Burgers & Burritos…OH MY!” features Dolly Parton band members in Kingsport

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — People in Kingsport were treated to a great evening of entertainment and food Monday at an event named “BANJO, Burgers & Burritos…OH MY!”

The event was held at Meadowview Convention Center and featured the world’s only 5-time national banjo champion Gary “Biscuit” Davis and Grammy-nominated mandolin player Matt Munsey.

Biscuit and Matt are Dolly Parton’s band members–Davis played for Parton for more than 20 years, spending much of that time as her band leader and producer.

“You know, just getting to know these people here in Kingsport, my family has a long history,” Munsey said. “I’m from Newport, the other ‘port, as I call it. And, you know, we’ve always had a lot of connections here through the ministry that my family run[s] here in Kingsport.”

Along with great entertainment, attendees enjoyed a few rounds of bingo with prizes provided by sponsors and a wide selection of burgers and burritos from Kingsport restaurants.

Organizers say they hope to make it an annual event in the future.
