GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — A new traffic light is expected to be installed at a Greeneville intersection next year .

The town plans to install a new traffic light at Serral Drive and Highway 11E, near a new Texas Roadhouse and Panda Express.

City Manager Todd Smith says the traffic light will help keep traffic safely flowing in the area.

“It’s a necessity when you look at that intersection and the traffic counts that will generate for the retail growth, that you’re going to see their traffic signals going to be absolutely necessary to get people in and out safely, especially those hard left turns that you have to make going in and out of that project,” Smith said.

Smith said the town accepted bids on the project and is awaiting equipment that is on backorder. He believes the project should be finished early next year.

Pretty much going to need a bypass for the bypass 😕 All those lights kinda defeats the purpose of a bypass. Oh nevermind you'll just waste tax payers money putting in lights on that one too.

Great so 5 lights in less than a mile!!! Way to go Greeneville genius building planners that you are. This makes perfect sense. Oh and let's not talk about the fact that you all cannot time the red lights to let more than 5 cars go at a time. This is why I moved to Washington County but I still have to drive through Greeneville to get to Morristown for work. I'd better off to go down the Jonesbridge Road at this point.
