This story has been updated to include a statement from the Greene County Director of Schools.

GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Sixteen juveniles at South Greene Middle School have been charged after an investigation into a TikTok video, according to a release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

The release states 16 juveniles were charged with disorderly conduct after a TikTok video posted on Sept. 17 showed several of them re-enacting what appeared to be a school shooting with a title of “to be continued,” the release said.

The sheriff’s department said Student Resource Officer Bill Carr conferred with the District Attorney’s Office for the investigation.

The Greene County Director of Schools, David McLain, released the following statement about the incident:

“In today’s school setting any situation that involves gun violence in our schools, whether imaginary or not, can’t be taken lightly and has to be fully investigated.”

The juveniles will appear in Greene County Juvenile Court at a later date.
