THP: One dead after crash on Highway 19E in Carter County

CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — One person is dead after a crash on Highway 19E in Carter County Thursday.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), a 1999 GMC Sonoma was traveling southbound on Highway 19E around 3 p.m.

The driver lost control of the vehicle while in a slight left curve, THP reported. The vehicle veered into the right lane of the highway, continued onto the shoulder and left the roadway before hitting an embankment and a large metal power pole.

The driver, identified by THP as Timothy Walker, 39, was fatally injured in the crash.

THP reported Walker was wearing a seatbelt.
