BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) — The City of Bristol, Tennessee announced crews are working to repair a broken water main on the east end of the city Monday that has left many residents without water for several hours.
According to the city, the break was located around noon near Melody Lane and Brookwood Drive. The broken line feeds water to a storage tank nearby, which supplies water to that area of the city.
The city said customers affected include those in neighborhoods along the King College Road and Old Jonesboro Road corridors.
Crews are working to install a new 20-inch water line to replace the broken one, the city said.
The city stated that an estimated time of completion and water restoration was not available. Residents are encouraged to visit the city’s website for ongoing updates at BristolTN.gov.
The full updated statement on the water main break from the city can be found below:
Utility crews continue working to restore water service to those affected by today’s line break. The area around the break has been excavated and water is being pumped out so that a new section of 20-inch line can be installed.
Unfortunately, an estimated time for repairs to be completed is not yet available. We realize this is incredibly frustrating for residents who remain without water. Even as scattered showers and thunderstorms move through the area this afternoon, crews will continue working in order to restore service as soon as possible.
We will continue to post updates here as well as on our website at www.bristoltn.gov as information becomes available. Your patience and understanding are very much appreciated.
