SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — West Ridge High School students will gain hands-on experience through the school’s work-based learning manufacturing program.

On Tuesday, West Ridge students signed up to work at several industries including Eastman, Promier Landscapes, Bell Flight and 007 Designs.

“The significance is just astronomical as far as the impact it has on our communities to have industries come and offer our students internships,” West Ridge principal Dr. George Laoo said. “It’s just amazing. This is an opportunity for them to get ahead, to explore a career.”

The program allows students to develop hands-on training in manufacturing and start their careers as they transition from high school to the workplace.

Laoo said the internships serve as a stepping stone for students ahead of their careers.
