    ETSU football team stalled on I-26 awaiting water to recede

    HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WJHL) — East Tennessee State University’s (ETSU) football team has been stalled on Interstate 26 near Hendersonville, North Carolina amid catastrophic flooding that resulted from Hurricane Helene.

    According to Voice of the Bucs Jay Sandos, the team’s transport bus made it to Exit 44 on I-26 when it hit floodwaters and was forced to stop on the shoulder. The team was heading to Charleston, South Carolina to play against The Citadel.

    According to a statement from ETSU’s Athletic Director Richard Sander, Bucs football will stay overnight in North Carolina and resume travel when the interstate is reopened.
