    Widespread road closures continue in Northeast Tenn., Southwest Va. & Western North Carolina

    Tenn./Va./N.C. (WJHL) — Widespread road closures continue to plague Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and Western North Carolina.

    News Channel 11 has reached out to state transportation agencies to obtain comprehensive lists of road closures in the region.

    Dozens of families searching for missing loved ones as floodwaters begin to recede

    The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) said in a post that “all roads in Western NC should be considered closed.”

    According to the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) traffic map, closures remain across the Southwest region as crews work to clear debris and fallen trees.

    The maps below were provided by TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi. Traffic updates can also be found on TDOT’s SmartWay Map . Notably, a portion of I-26 in Unicoi County and parts of I-40 in both North Carolina and Cocke County remain closed.
