    LIST: Counties calling on residents and businesses to conserve water

    TRI-CITIES (WJHL) – Counties are asking residents and businesses to conserve water after flood damage throughout the region.

    Below is a list of counties in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia that have declared water emergencies.

    Greene County

    The Chuckey Utility District asked residents to conserve water after the Greeneville Water Commission intake pump was compromised. In a release, the district said no water would be distributed until the pumps were repaired and bulk water distribution points were in the works.

    The Greeneville Chief of Police posted on social media asking residents and bus inesses to conserve water. The post said nonessential businesses need to shut down, and water will run out temporarily.

    Unicoi County

    Erwin Utilities asked residents to conserve all water after a systemwide water outage due to power loss .

    Erwin Utilities also urged all Unicoi Water Utility District customers to conserve all water.

    Washington County, Tenn.

    The Town of Jonesborough said in a social media post that the Jonesborough Utility System has shut off all water services. The system is working with the Washington County Emergency Management Agency to distribute water to affected areas.

    Carter County

    The South Elizabethton Utility District received main line breaks and will experience system-wide water outages.
