    News Channel 11 holds telethon for United Way disaster relief fund

    JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — On Monday, Sept. 30, News Channel 11 will host a telethon in the studio to raise money for the United Way of East Tennessee’s Disaster Relief Fund after catastrophic flooding hit the Tri-Cities.

    The telethon will begin at noon on Monday and run through 6:30 p.m.

    Donations can also be made online to the United Way of East Tennessee’s Disaster Relief Fund.

    The flooding brought on by Hurricane Helene has left widespread damage across the region.

    As of Sunday, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reported 153 people were missing . Two weather-related deaths , one in Johnson County and one in Unicoi County, were confirmed on Sunday.
