Johnson City, TN — ETSU football spent most of its weekend on the team bus but still took the field in Charleston on Saturday evening to grab its first SoCon win of the season over the Citadel.

After returning home Sunday night to a gathering of fans head coach Tre Lamb was right back into his weekly press conference Monday afternoon he continued to send his thoughts and prayers to the Appalachian communities impacted by the devastating flood waters of hurricane Helen.

He also praised his team for the fight they showed through uncertainty all weekend long for the players, the challenges of the Charleston trip seem to have brought this group’s identity into focus as they prepare for a rivalry matchup with Chattanooga in five days.

“Certainly thankful to get a win. I’m very proud of our team – they were resilient, and they didn’t make any excuses … Sometimes you’ve got to win ugly, and good teams find a way to do that, says Lamb.”

“We know we’ve just got to play with our identity. Coach says that every day if we just go out there and play with effort and stuff like that – we know what to expect, says Hunter.”

“Just trusting that we have the people in the room that we need to be successful. Those are two main things that help us when things get hard. We can fall back on these things and know that we can keep pushing forward. When we’re stranded on a bus for 14 hours, we can care about the people next to us and know that things get better moving on, according to Gaillardetz.”

Big day for the Bucs wide receiver-turned-running back Khamran Laborn named SoCon offensive player of the week totaling 117 rush yards and 2 touchdowns
