JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — Water has been restored to Jonesborough Utility customers north of the Nolichucky River, as well as some others.

The Town of Jonesborough announced that as of Tuesday at 1 a.m., water was restored to around 7,000 customers.

The Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC) requires a boil water advisory for the next 48 hours for those who lost water service due to flooding.

3 flood deaths confirmed in Unicoi Co., K-9s deployed for missing people

Customers who never lost water service are not under the advisory.

As of Tuesday morning, there were 600 people without water, including Highway 107, all connecting roads on Highway 107 and Highway 81 South from Taylor Bridge heading towards Erwin, which also encompasses Bumpass Cove and Little Germany.

The town said it’s assessing the damage and is creating a plan for the affected areas. An update should be released sometime on Wednesday, the town said.

On Monday, the town announced Jonesborough’s Water Treatment Facility sustained no major damage and is running at full capacity.
