WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL)—On Wednesday, the Kingsport Fire Department (KFD) Technical Rescue Team and a K-9 Search Unit from Murfreesboro Police Department rescued a dog that had escaped to higher ground.

While in Washington County, Tenn., near the Nolichucky River, the teams rescued a dog that had climbed over 20 feet into a tree. She was seeking refuge from rising flood waters and debris.

After climbing a ladder and successfully bringing the four-legged friend down, the KFD turned her over to local animal control.

She has a full belly of food and awaits a hopeful reunion with her family.
