KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — Goodwill and Eastman will host a clothing and shoe collection drive to support those affected by Hurricane Helene.

New or gently used clothes and shoes can be dropped off at Eastman’s Toy F. Reid Employee Center (400 South Wilcox Drive, Kingsport) from 1 – 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.

“We know there are countless numbers of people in our region that were left with nothing except the clothes they were wearing,” Morris Baker, Goodwill Tenneva President and CEO, said in a news release “Every donation will truly make a difference to help these families and neighbors as we start recovery efforts in these communities and help them rebuild their lives in the months ahead.”

All donations will go directly to those affected by floods across the region.

“We are honored to partner with Goodwill to stage this collection effort that will help meet an incredible need for people that have lost everything,” Paula Bulcao, Eastman’s Director of Global Public Affairs, said in the release. “The devastation is heartbreaking, and it will take all of us working together to help these families and communities recover.”

if it's going to a Goodwill store...isn't the donation being sold to the person who needs it? how is it going directly to people who were affected by the storm?
