TDOT: Multi-vehicle crash at Colonial Heights exit backs up I-81 traffic

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A crash on Interstate 81 North in Sullivan County has backed up traffic for miles, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).

The TDOT SmartWay Traffic Map states a multivehicle crash occurred around 3:14 p.m. at mile marker 59.6 just past the Colonial Heights exit.

As of 4:15 p.m., the left lane of I-81 North and the left shoulder are closed with traffic moving slowly.

Traffic is congested and backed up past Tri-Cities Crossing, TDOT reported at 4:15 p.m.
