Greene Co. Health Department, Providence Medical Clinic to offer free vaccines in Chuckey

CHUCKEY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Greene County Health Department is partnering with Providence Medical Clinic to provide free vaccinations to flood victims in the area on Monday.

A release from the health department said the clinic will take place Monday at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 2466 Highway 107 in Chuckey, from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Vaccinations offered free of charge include TDAP, hepatitis A and influenza.

Individuals cleaning up flood debris or damage should ensure they’re up to date on a tetanus vaccination. Those with any open wounds should avoid contact with floodwater to prevent an infection.

“Adults who were not vaccinated previously and want to be protected against hepatitis A should get the vaccine,” the release states. “There is a potential risk of hepatitis A from exposure to flood water contaminated with sewage.”

Regular vaccination operations will resume Monday at the Greene County Health Department, as well as walk-in visits on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. More information on the Greene County Health Department and its services can be found by calling 423-798-1749.
