BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — Two bridges in the Taylor’s Valley area of Washington County, Virginia have been repaired.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), multiple teams assembled, installed and repaired the two bridges, allowing the Washington County Service Authority to begin re-establishing water service to the area.

Crews from VDOT’s Bristol, Staunton, Northern Virginia districts and Jones Road & Bridge installed a Bailey bridge and repaired a second bridge within 51 hours, VDOT said in a news release.

VDOT stated a Bailey bridge is a prefabricated, modular bridge made of steel panels that can be quickly assembled to create a bridge of various spans and loads.

The road and bridges reopened to traffic Sunday.

As of Tuesday, nine bridges across the Bristol District remain closed due to storm damage caused by Hurricane Helene, VDOT reported.
