ERWIN, Tenn. (WJHL) – Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. (NFS) is scheduled to test piping this week to determine if it was damaged in flooding following Hurricane Helene.

The line is located near Martin’s Creek.

According to a release from NFS, water used in the test is treated city drinking water with the addition of about one gallon of blue nontoxic dye/tracer. The dye is certified by the National Sanitation Foundation for use in and around drinking water.

NFS said this test is being performed in coordination with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.

Although the dye may be visible in the creek or in the Nolichucky River, NFS said the test dye presents no health, safety or environmental risks.
